Become a Certified Yoga Teacher with HYA

RYT-200 Hatha Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) is a 200 hour course, certified by Texas Yoga Alliance, for those who wish to become certified yoga teachers. Houston Yoga & Ayurveda is a registered yoga school (RYS), certified by Yoga Alliance.

Curriculum includes:

• Techniques, Training & Practice: Styles of Asanas Gentle, Restorative, Raja, Hatha, and Power Yoga, Pranayama & Meditation, Chakras, Mudras, Mantras
• Anatomy & Physiology
• Yoga Humanities: History, Philosophy, and Ethics as per Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita
• Professional Essentials: Teaching Methodology, Professional Development, and Practicum
• (Elective) Basics of Ayurveda and Introduction to Sanskrit and Jyotish (Eastern Astrology). 

Here's the typical schedule for the 10 day intensive in-classroom course, followed by a self-paced training. 

Schedule for the in-classroom intensive training (10 days):

• Friday | 4:00pm - 9:00pm
• First weekend: Saturday & Sunday | 6:00am - 6:30pm
• Monday through Friday | 4:00pm - 9:00pm
• Second weekend: Saturday & Sunday | 6:00am - 6:30pm 

Attendance during the intensive training is required unless exempted by lead teacher. These in-classroom sessions include both theory and practice. 

After completion of intensive training, students schedule time for reading, assignments, practice tests, yoga class observations, and 10 practice yoga classes (student led). 

We expect everybody to be able to graduate within 3 months. 

We encourage prospective students to call us for additional information and to receive the breakdown of the 200 hours between lectures, practice, observation, teaching, and completing the program.

With the RYT-200 Hatha Yoga Teacher certificate, you are able to teach at most yoga studios around the world. 

At HYA we love to hirs our own graduates as other YTT programs do not focus on ayurveda and its importance to the yoga asanas and yoga philosophy as we do. 

This certificate allows you to register at Yoga Alliance as a yoga teacher (extra membership cost).

If you already have a 300-hour course or wish to pursue one, then this 200-Hr course will help you get to an e-RYT 500 level, which allows you to open your own yoga teacher school and teach accredited yoga teacher training courses.

The successful attendance of the RYT-200 Hatha Yoga Teacher training is a prerequisite for attending the 1,000 Hr  Ayurveda Yoga Therapist course recognized by IAYT, the International Association of Yoga Therapists. 

Yoga  Alliance requires that graduates of RYT 200, 300, and RYT 500 certified yoga teacher training courses continue to learn and improve their skills.  Houston Yoga and Ayurveda are proud to offer CEs, not only for our own graduates but also to others. Two contact hours and four non-contact hours are credited with each course.
